A workshop about the next CSF school board elections was held in the afternoon.

The objective was to let participants know how Trustees (conseillers and conseillères) to the Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (CSF) are elected, and to raise awareness about the next elections, which will take place on October 20, 2018.

The importance of these elections for the smooth running of the public education system was addressed, as well as the role of the elected representatives who form the CSF Board of Trustees.

A short presentation by professor Rémi Léger of Simon Fraser University provided a historical context for the school board elections from the point of view of the BC Francophone community.

Finally, participants exchanged information in smaller groups about common issues and identified potential strategies to promote increased participation in their communities for the next elections.

In addition to the lively discussion that took place, the workshop produced a number of ideas that could help the campaign that the Fédération des parents intends to lead, in collaboration with community partners, in the months preceding the elections.

Without a doubt, the CSF school board elections will be an event to watch in 2018!
