Portrait of a parent

Denis, president of APE École-des-glaciers, Revelstoke

Behind every successful school, there are parents who get involved!

To show Parenthèse readers how parents from across the province contribute to their school community, we’re publishing “portraits” of parents who commit themselves in various ways to the community.

Denis, president of APE École-des-glaciers, Revelstoke

I have 2 children:

Audrey, who will soon be 6 years old, and Louis, nearly 8 years old. They attend l’école des Glaciers in Revelstoke.

My involvement in the school community is defined by:

As a parent, I really like to contribute to the educational system that makes it possible for our children -- and for me! -- to discover the world.

An important value for my family:

The joy of learning something new every day.

My motto:

The more I learn, the less I know!

A dream that I hold for my children:

I wish them to have a peaceful future.

What I love the most about our Francophone school:

What I like the most about l'école des Glaciers is that it has brought together the Francophone community in Revelstoke.

An achievement I’m proud of:

I find that if we do something constructive together, as parents, children, teachers, and everyone else connected to the school, we can create a lively and welcoming school community.

Francophone people who inspire me:

Maurice Richard for his passion; Michel Chartrand for his common sense and liveliness;

Jacques Languirand for his wisdom; René Lévesque for his desire to equalize things;

My mother, who is of Anglophone origin; my wife, who tells me to be inspired by her ;)
