The FrancoZone: A Workshop For Parents

FrancoZone

Discover an approach to help you create a Francophone space in your home (even if French is not your own language)!

Are you part of a family where the other parent is Francophone and you speak another language?

Would you like to ensure that your child learns both your mother tongue and also French, but you find that this presents challenges on a daily basis?

As a non-Francophone parent, you may be wondering how you can get actively involved in your child's education in French, while at the same time making sure that your own language is also valued.

You're not alone asking yourself these questions... because there are more than 250,000 children who, like yours, are growing up in a mixed Francophone/non-Francophone family in Canada!

If this is the case, the bilingual FrancoZone workshop is for you! It will present an approach that’s easy to put into practice, with simple and practical strategies to keep using French in mixed Francophone/non-Francophone households, while encouraging the learning of both languages equally.

Families in Greater Vancouver are invited to learn more about the FrancoZone, and also to interact with other families who share their reality. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, 31 May, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and childcare will be available on site. It's free, but prior registration is required. For more information, visit the event's Facebook page; and to register, click here.

Those who won't be able to participate in the workshop but want to learn more about the FrancoZone can consult the bilingual "Éducation francophone/Francophone Education" website here:  www.francophoneeducation.ca/fr/francozone
