A collaboration with the Société historique francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (SHFCB) allows for the digital archiving of Fédération des parents publications.

The Société historique franco-phone is currently conducting a project in partnership with the University of British Columbia (UBC) Archives, which involves scanning BC Francophone organi-zations’ publications and making them searchable by subject.

The Fédération des parents is very pleased to participate in this archiving project, which corresponds to the SHFCB’s wish to gather a collection of BC Francophone associations’ publications.

This initiative will allow for the scanning of Parenthèse, La voix des parents de Colombie-Britannique (2005 -2013), Info-Parents Colombie-Britannique (1992-2005), Grimace et Galipette (1998-2005), ainsi que Le Journal de Tire-Lire (1995-1997).

In addition, on May 9, Marie-Pierre Lavoie, President of the Fédération des parents, submitted a physical copy of each publication issue to Maurice Guibord, President of the SHFCB (see photo). The issues will be archived in the SHFCB’s collection (see the photo).

Once the parents’ publications have been scanned, they’ll be available for free viewing by anyone interested, through a link to the UBC Archives from the web sites of the Fédération des parents and the Société historique francophone.

The project will create a valuable resource for our Francophone communities, with free and open access. Simply being able to search the documents by key word is in itself a great asset. When the scanning is complete we’ll inform our member associations and the general public, so that everyone can take advantage of this new resource!
