Well Attended Events in Squamish
The very popular Soirée FrancoFun, a fundraising event organized annually by the parents' association of l'école Les Aiglons in Squamish, got even bigger this year.
An evening just for the parents...
The electro-folk group Mélisande from Quebec was invited to perform at the event, which took place on March 3. Playing their original music, inspired by traditional pieces modernized with wild electronic rhythms, Mélisande got everyone moving on the dance floor right throughout the evening!

What's more, the event's silent auction helped raise nearly $11,000, thanks to the many generous donations from the community. It was an unforgettable evening for parents in the école Les Aiglons school community, who enjoyed getting together for dinner and dancing.
... and a dance for the students
The "Folie en Rouge" dance for Grade 5 and 6 students in February was also a great success! It was the second year this event was held, and this time, it was co-hosted by l'école Les Aiglons and the French immersion program at Squamish Elementary School.
The students were treated to a real professional DJ, Miss Kosmik, who delivered a mix of popular songs in both French and English, and who knew how to get all the young people and parent volunteers dancing!
Other activities were also available, such as a fun photo booth. And for the occasion, the host school's gym had been beautifully decorated with red and white balloons and lit up with lighting effects, just like in a real disco!
The dance was used to raise funds, thanks to the sale of admission tickets and a concession stand offering home-made pastries provided by parents. For the young participants, it was an evening of great fun, and no doubt they'll have many happy memories about it!
