CONGRÈS 2014
Annual Parents' Conference
On November 21 and 22, representatives of BC parents’ associations will participate in the Fédération des parents 2014 conference and AGM. The event will take place at l’École secondaire Jules-Verne in Vancouver. The conference and AGM will take place in French.
This year we have the pleasure of welcoming none other than Ms. Claire Pimparé as our keynote speaker. Ms. Pimparé, who has acted in both theatre and cinema, played the well-known character of Passe-Carreau for several years in the Francophone television series “Passe-Partout.” Author, speaker, mom, and now grandmother, she is very socially engaged. During her talk, which will be followed by a question period, Ms. Pimparé will inspire us to reflect on our roles as parents. This will be an encounter that promises to be rewarding, and where sharing will be encouraged!
New This Year: a Talk That Is Open to the Public
We are pleased to announce that Ms. Claire Pimparé’s talk will be open to the public! Anyone who is not participating in the conference but who wishes to attend this talk, which will be on Saturday, November 22, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., is invited to book a reservation on our website as soon as possible. The cost will be $20 (for Ms. Claire Pimparé’s talk only), payable in advance.
Opening Night Marking our 35th Anniversary
In addition, we have the opportunity to welcome Ms. Pimparé as a guest of honour at the opening night on Friday, during which participants will have privileged access to her. During this evening, where we will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Fédération des parents, a BC parents’ association will be given the Parents’ Association of the Year Award. Also, as awarded every year, the prestigious Award of Excellence in Early Childhood Education will be given to an early childhood educator working in a Francophone preschool.
The rest of the day on Saturday will be devoted to our annual general meeting and workshops. The workshops will include one hosted by Ms. Claire Pimparé entitled “Le sac à dos de ton cœur” (“Your Heart’s Backpack”), as well as another workshop with senior management from the Conseil scolaire francophone who will present an outline of their action plan for the coming years.
The complete conference schedule and the electronic registration form are now available on our website, www.fpfcb.bc.ca.
The Fédération des parents conference will be an excellent opportunity for representatives of parents’ associations to network! And through the workshops designed to meet their needs, they will leave better equipped to work within their school community. So it’s a rendezvous not to be missed!
