"Franco-Farm" in Prince George
Students from l’école Franco-Nord in Prince George now grow vegetables for a salad counter, thanks to the initiative of a teacher who has a passion for organic farming.
To educate students from kindergarten to Grade 7 about a healthy diet, Ms. Janie Roberge started this project, which helps them grow vegetables and sprouts that they can then eat.
The goal of the project is for students to take an interest in cultivating and preparing food, and learn that we can enjoy cooking and eating healthily together!

The project received funding from the Farm to School BC Network and the Farm to Cafeteria Canada organization.
The école Franco-nord parents' association (APÉ) supports this initiative, and will help with additional funding (for example, buying vegetables for the salad bar while waiting for harvest, or buying other products as needed). In addition, some of the school's parents are involved in a Farm to School committee that lends a helping hand to the children during the project.
