EARLY CHILDHOOD
A New Reference for Parents!
Becoming a parent is one of life's most exciting experiences, one that brings so much joy, but also brings many questions.
Sometimes it’s hard to find familiar references to ease the transition to this new stage of life, especially when you live far away from your country or province of origin – a reality experienced by many Francophone families living in British Columbia.
Find answers to your questions
...How does one find a doctor or midwife who speaks French?
...How do early childhood services work in British Columbia?
...Where does one find opportunities to exchange information with other parents (and who knows, maybe discover the magic recipe to help a child finally sleep through the night!)?
...Where does one go to hear songs and nursery rhymes from one's childhood, or even to learn new ones – and enjoy singing along with your young child?
...Where does one go to find books and games to amuse a child and keep them interested when it's too gloomy to go outside and play?
If you are a parent of a child from zero to six years old, and you ask yourself these questions and others, we invite you to visit cafe-cb.ca – the new website of the Centre d’appui à la famille et à l’enfance (CAFE).
A website especially designed for parents of young children
Designed specifically for parents with small children, this site is easy to access from a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
- Explore the Ressources section and learn about various services for Francophone families (some of which are accessible no matter where you live in BC);
- With the Activités* section and the Calendrier*, you can stay informed about programs offered, workshops for parents, and opportunities for having fun in French with your young child.
(*as the implementation of the CAFE's programming is happening mainly in Vancouver, the calendar lists French activities offered in Vancouver only.)
What's more, the website allows you to subscribe to the CAFE mailing list, so that you'll never miss anything... so, don't wait any longer, visit the cafe-cb.ca/inscription web page now!

The Centre d'appui à la famille et à l’enfance (CAFE) is part of the network of BC Early Years Centres. This community initiative is made possible through the collaboration of several partner organizations, under the leadership of the Fédération des parents francophones de Colombie-Britannique.
The CAFE's vision is that these organizations work together to ensure that Francophone families have access to services that ensure the health, well-being, and development of young children.
The Fédération des parents would like to acknowledge the financial support received through the Canada-BC Cooperation Agreement on Official Languages for services in French.
