WORKSHOP
Leadership and Strategies to Enhance Parents’ Commitment
An interactive workshop explored concrete courses of action that could be used to address various challenges faced by parents’ associations.
After a dynamic presentation that aroused interest and launched discussion, presenter Christine McLeod invited the delegates to work in small groups.
Participants were called upon to do two things in particular. On the one hand, each person had to identify a particular challenge affecting their community; one that could benefit from the experiences of other members of the group. On the other hand, they had to identify an achievement or expertise acquired by their own parents’ association, so that they could share proven best practices that might benefit other communities.

The workshop gave rise to lively discussions, generating practical solutions and inspiring ideas which flowed into the exchange of information -- and all this, well after the end of the workshop which was very much appreciated by the participants!
Here are two of the comments expressed following the workshop:
“I learned so many good ideas about how to organize in our APÉ in order to achieve our goals, as well as on how to encourage the participation of other parents.”
“I have collected some good ideas to try to engage parents more, to prepare a strategic plan for our APÉ, and to give us good goals to achieve.”
