INCLUSION

Learning in French Together

The B.C. Ministry of Education recently launched a new website called Learning in French Together.

This is a new resource for parents, educators, and school administrators who want to learn more about British Columbia’s French education programs and how they are designed to include all students.

Available in English and French versions, the website is the result of work done by the B.C. Stakeholder Advisory Committee for French Education, which included the Fédération des parents as a member. The committee’s role was to explore the evolution of French education programs in British Columbia and make recommendations to ensure student success through robust and sustainable programs.

Exploring the interconnected nature of topics such as inclusive education practices, learning design, student progress, and more, this resource aims to provide B.C. communities with tools to support inclusion in all aspects of learning French.

This new resource positions British Columbia as a leader across Canada in terms of inclusion in French-language programs.

Parents are encouraged to explore the website, which offers a variety of content, including a “Tools” section that presents ideas and strategies to help create inclusive learning environments at home and at school.

In addition, the inclusive education team at the Ministry of Education helped make the website fully accessible; for example, all text has an audio playback function in both official languages, and each video is accompanied by subtitles.
