Parents' Association Secures Funding to Provide Great Activities for the School
When they learned about the existence of new sources of microfinancing available to parents' associations (APÉs) in Francophone schools¹, l’Association des parents francophones de Langley (which is the APÉ of l’école des Voyageurs) was quick to take action in order to benefit from two new programs!
PassepART
The APÉ first submitted an application to the PassepART program, funded by Canadian Heritage and delivered by la Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF). The goal of the PassepART program is to provide the means to create new experiences in French for students in kindergarten to grade 12, through artistic, cultural, and heritage activities.
In this way, non-profit organizations (including APÉs²) can obtain $1,500³ to help them introduce such an activity in their school. What’s even better is that, unlike so many other programs, a micro-subsidy is provided for each eligible minority Francophone school¹, as long as the proposed activity meets the criteria.
After a simple application process, the APÉ quickly received a subsidy that made it possible for a company called Tradansa to offer dance workshops at the school. All the students were able to participate in the workshops and the parents were invited to come and see the resulting show! (To see a photo of the activity, click here.)

Vice-versa
A few weeks later, a second microfinancing opportunity was announced: Vice-versa, the support funding for l’École communautaire citoyenne, which is administered by the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française. Like the PassepART program, Vice-Versa guarantees $1,500 per school when a proposed project meets the criteria -- which in this case are related to subjects such as the environment, self-development, health, and entrepreneurship.
Without delay, the APÉ submitted another request in order to organize an activity in April, hosted by a group called CréaSon. It will be a workshop for making musical instruments with recycled materials, which promotes creativity and respect for the environment by encouraging young people to make “junk masterpieces”.

Two opportunities not to be missed
What a pleasure for the parents' association of l’école des Voyageurs to support new ways of bringing French to life in their school! Moreover, the APÉ intends to continue to count on PassepART and Vice-Versa for the benefit of students, because both programs will continue over the next three years!
Did you know that….
- the micro-subsidies offered by the PassepART and Vice-versa programs will be available each year for four years, from 2019/20 to 2022/23?
- once you decide on the activity that you want to submit, it takes only 15 minutes to create an account and complete an online application form?
- the PassepART and Vice-versa funding can be received as quickly as within a week after submitting the application?
- you simply can't pass up the opportunity to offer activities in French worth $3,000 a year to students in your community?
Get all the information about PassepART and Vice Versa by visiting each program's website (please note that it is no longer possible to apply for 2019-2020, but that both programs will be available again for 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023):
